Guided Kasilof River King Salmon Fishing

RICH KETTERMAN KING SALMON Headed to the Kenai Peninsula in search of a Guided Kasilof River King Salmon Fishing? Consider the Kasilof River a great option!  This fishery is the located 12 mile from Soldotna Alaska and is the sister river to the Kenai River.  It is also a drift boat only King Salmon fishery which means there are no motors allowed and pressure is way less than on the Kenai River, though popularity is growing every year. kasilof river drift boat The Kasilof river has two distinctive runs of King Salmon. The First run of fish start to show up around the middle of May and usually peaks by the middle of June.  These early run Kings will typically run between 20 and 30 pounds with an occasional fish weighing over 30 pounds.  During the early season the river is much lower than it is in late June and July.  It is still cold in the high country and the runoff isn’t as heavy yet.  This is the time to come if you are looking to hook a King Salmon on the fly.  As the water rises there is more glacier silt that clouds the river and less bank fishing opportunity to fly fish. The second run of Kasilof River King Salmon start to show up near the end of June mixing in with the remainder of the first run fish and will keep coming in through the end of King salmon season.  July 31st is the last day that we are allowed to target these fish.  These fish tend to be quite a bit bigger than the first run of fish, averaging 30-40 pounds and with many fish caught every year reaching 50 pounds or larger. The Kasilof river offers some great fishing opportunities, chances to see wildlife and is in a very peaceful setting.  Sit back, relax and wait for one of these large, hard fighting fish to latch onto your line.  If you are interested in a guided King Salmon fishing trip on the Kenai Peninsula I think that the Kasilof river is a great place to fish. kasilof king salom fishing Give us a call at (907) 382-6808 or contact us through the site by clicking on the book now link! troubadournorth.com

After a super long day on the kenai river some friends and I had dinner a saint Elias brewery company for dinner. We had a few IPA’s and some great pizza. Then the band started. They started out with some jack Johnson songs and ended with some zack brown. This is all good in my eyes. It was just two guys with a couple guitars and they where great to listen to at dinner. They call themselves troubadournorth.com/ and I highly recommend checking them out. 20120712-210132.jpg 20120712-210403.jpg In Soldotna Alaska there are a few places I would recommend hanging out after a day of rainbow trout fishing and saint Elias brewing company is one of them. I’ll keep you posted on what going on with the Kenai river fishery as well. Fish on and fish with www.Driftingonthefly.com

Wilderness Way

20120629-204343.jpg Great customer service and knowledgeable employees makes wilderness way one of the best places on the Kenai Peninsula to find the outdoor gear that is right for you. 20120629-204355.jpg A very good selection of fly fishing gear for the kenai river and surrounding waters keeps wilderness way competitive with the bigger box stores! Working close with local guides and getting on the water too keeps the stores fly selection up on what is actually going on on the river. 20120629-204402.jpg Wilderness way outfitters is located in the heart of the kenai peninsula in down town Soldotna. This is one of my favorite shops in the state of Alaska for quality fishing camping and hunting gear.  The fly fishing section has grown into a big part of the shop so if you are looking for some good information on what is happening in the kenai river or are in Need of some quality equipment I highly recommend stopping in.  They also have good knowledge of the area and are willing to share information on some great hikes and hike in fishing on the kenai peninsula. You can also check them out online at www.wildernessway.com

IZAAK WALTON BOAT LAUNCH

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO IZAAK WALTON BOAT LAUNCH IN STERLING, ALASKA View IZAAK WALTON OR MOOSE RIVER BOAT LAUNCH in a larger map Most trips meet here for Rainbow trout, Silver Salmon and sometimes King salmon fishing trips. Izzak Walton boat launch in located at the moose river bridge in Sterling Alaska. The Izzak walton boat launch and state park has a very nice campground, picnic tables, and outhouses.  This is one of my favorite state park facilities located on the Kenai river.  The Moose river dumps into the Kenai only a short distance from the boat launch.  It is a slow and shallow river and makes it very nice for launching a boat.  There is also some great silver salmon fishing here as well when they are running.  It is a toss up between meeting here or at bings landing.  It usually depends on how busy the boat launch is at bings.  If we are headed up river it takes about 15 minutes to pass bings launch up and head on to skilak lake.  This is worth it if the wait to launch at bings is very long. Guided Kenai River Trip Rate $250 per person *LARGE GROUPS WELCOME *LODGING PACKAGES AVAILABLE *EXCLUSIVE BOAT PACKAGES -2 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $750.00 A DAY -3 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $950.00 A DAY Hope this helps out and we are looking for ward to fishing with you this year! View CENTENNIAL PARK BOAT LAUNCH in a larger map This is a very popular spot to launch your guide boat on the lower Kenai river for a days fishing for King salmon.  There is a fee station set up shortly after you enter the park so make sure you stop for that.  Along with camping and great gravel bars for fishing the park has picnic areas and of course the boat launch. The Kenai river runs fast in July and Centennial park has a nice back eddie with place to park your boat while you are parking your rig after launching.  If you plan on fishing the top half of the lower kenai river this is a great place to launch your boat.  I enjoy fishing sunkin island, poachers cove, river quest, big eddie and a few other runs that are easily accessible from Centennial park. business phone: 907-382-6808 or send an inquiry here!
