Looking for a Kenai Peninsula Deep Creek steelhead fishing Guide?  We can help you out with a guided trip on this beautiful small river.  We offer 8 hour full day excursions on light tackle or fly rod for Deep Creek.  There are many runs that hold good numbers of fish throughout the fall and this is one of my favorite steelhead streams on the Kenai Peninsula.  Fresh fish push in with each tide in the fall and there are days where multiple fish are caught.  Add a steelhead trip to your Kenai river rainbow trout fishing trip or just pursue steelhead it’s up to you.  There have been falls where I spend over 35 days walking the banks of our local steelhead waters and just the thought of hooking up on one keeps me going back.  It is steelhead fishing and these contrary fish can be difficult at times but when it is on it is on! The season is here and if you are interested in a hard fighting fish that will reward you with long runs, cartwheels and jumps before you bring it to hand, this is your trip. Kenai River Rainbow Trout Fishing

June 11th is the day that the entire Kenai River is open to rainbow trout fishing.  We will start our season off fishing the Middle Kenai river in a drift boat until the 15th of June.  This allows us to fish in a preferred section of the river that is closed to the use of power boats.  Once the river opens up to the use of motors in this section we will then offer guided trips with the power boat.  Drift boat trips will still be offered if this is your preferred boat to fish out of or if we are fishing in the Upper Kenai river.  Both Boats are effective ways to pursue Kenai river rainbow trout. kasilof river drift boat powerboat1           Kenai river Rainbow trout fishing will continue to be good through the end of June.  In July the rainbow trout fishing tends to tapper off a little but then picks back up again in early August.  In August September and October Kenai River rainbow trout fishing will continue to be good.  The Kenai river offers excellent opportunities for trophy fish on both fly and light tackle.  Our Guide service will supply all tackle, flies, waders (if needed), rain gear (if you do not have your own) and rods needed for your trip.  We also will have water, hot coffee, and snacks on board.  You will need: sunglasses, extra layers of clothing, a packed lunch, and a valid fishing license for the day. Along with guided Kenai river rainbow trout fishing trips, we also offer guided king salmon fishing, silver salmon fishing, sockeye salmon fishing, dolly varden fishing, arctic grayling fishing, and steelhead fishing depending on the time of the season.   All of these species of fish make for an exciting adventure in Alaska.  I fish most every day during the South Central Alaska fishing season and take great pride in showing a quality trip to our guests.  Give us a call or contact us here on the site and we will get you lined up on a great fishing trip on the Kenai Peninsula or surrounding areas here in Alaska.     20120908-090016.jpg Dolly varden fishing on the kenai river can be excellent.  Along with the rainbow trout fishing you will find that these hard fighting fish can really be a good variety to your day. The guys taking time for family photos on the Kenai river and soaking in the experience. The high bank I am on is a great place to eat lunch and view the river and mountain range behind skilak lake. 20120908-090327.jpg The rainbow trout and Dolly Varden fishing was really good in the morning and tapered off a little by the afternoon. We still managed to find pockets of fish that were willing to feed. After I dropped my guest off I picked up a buddy and my dog at the dock and hung out on the river for another couple hours. It makes for a long day but winter is coming fast and this is the time of year I love the most. 20120908-090908.jpg If you are interested in a day on the water this year I still have days available for the in September and october this year. Kenai river Alaska fly fishing

The Kenai river was running much clearer today than the last couple days. Kenai river Alaska fly fishing for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden fishing was very good all day long. I found a few concentrations of bigger fish and was able to land a few of them! 20120830-204826.jpg Jack caught so many fish today that after 8 hours he was laying down on the deck trying to run a drift. It didn’t work so well but he just couldn’t bring himself to quit! 20120830-205039.jpg Everyone caught good fish and they are already in for another week next year. 20120830-210130.jpg This Large dark rainbow trout was caught close to the shore.  I think he was taking a break from the current and hanging in some easier water. 20120830-210153.jpg 20120830-210207.jpg Dolly varden are often caught while fishing for rainbow trout on the kenai river 20120830-210218.jpg Rainbow trout fishing is all catch and release with barbless hooks. Rainbow Trout Season

Today is the Rainbow Trout season opener on the Kenai River, June 11th. Get out your smolt and flesh fly patterns and enjoy some potentially great rainbow trout fishing. This is a great time of year to pursue trout, they are hungry and willing to take traditional flies, which is always a lot of fun. The mouth of the Kenai River from Skilak lake five miles down stream is closed to all motorized vessels until June 15th! This is set into place because of the trumpeter swans that are nesting in the area. If you are interested in taking a guided fishing trip on the Kenai river, feel free to contact us anytime at www.driftingonthefly.com or at 907-382-6808.

IZAAK WALTON BOAT LAUNCH

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO IZAAK WALTON BOAT LAUNCH IN STERLING, ALASKA View IZAAK WALTON OR MOOSE RIVER BOAT LAUNCH in a larger map Most trips meet here for Rainbow trout, Silver Salmon and sometimes King salmon fishing trips. Izzak Walton boat launch in located at the moose river bridge in Sterling Alaska. The Izzak walton boat launch and state park has a very nice campground, picnic tables, and outhouses.  This is one of my favorite state park facilities located on the Kenai river.  The Moose river dumps into the Kenai only a short distance from the boat launch.  It is a slow and shallow river and makes it very nice for launching a boat.  There is also some great silver salmon fishing here as well when they are running.  It is a toss up between meeting here or at bings landing.  It usually depends on how busy the boat launch is at bings.  If we are headed up river it takes about 15 minutes to pass bings launch up and head on to skilak lake.  This is worth it if the wait to launch at bings is very long. Guided Kenai River Trip Rate $250 per person *LARGE GROUPS WELCOME *LODGING PACKAGES AVAILABLE *EXCLUSIVE BOAT PACKAGES -2 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $750.00 A DAY -3 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $950.00 A DAY Hope this helps out and we are looking for ward to fishing with you this year! BINGS STATE PARK AND BOAT LAUNCH

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM SOLDOTNA ALASKA TO BINGS STATE PARK AND BOAT LAUNCH IN STERLING.

Most Drifting on the Fly’s Rainbow trout and Silver salmon trip will meet here in the mornings.

View DIRECTIONS TO BING’S LANDING in a larger map

Bings boat Landing is located on Bings road in Sterling Alaska.  Bing’s landing and state park a lot to offer visitors and residents too.  This 126 acre park has 36 campsites, picnic sites, a picnic shelter, trails, and of course a boat launch.  Bing’s boat landing is centrally located in the middle section of the Kenai river.  It is the last boat landing before you reach Naptown rapids so if you are not an experienced boat operator make sure you make this landing.  For drift boat trips we will meet here in the morning and leave your rig in the parking area.  Then we will drive in my vehicle to the Lower Skilak lake boat launch which is about 20 minutes away.  Here we will Launch and make our way down the middle kenai river back to bing’s landing.  This is a very scenic trip and some consider it to be the best rainbow trout fishing on the kenai river at times. If we are using the power boat we will meet at the boat launch and make our way up or down river to fish. The use of the motor allows us to end up at bing’s landing again at the end of the day.  Bing’s landing and state park is does have a pay to park fee station and is strickly enforced so make sure you check in.

JIMS LANDING

Directions to Jims Landing View DIRECTIONS TO JIM’S LANDING in a larger map     Jims Landing is the last take out before the Kenai River Canyon. If you float past here you will have to navigate through class 111 whitewater rapids before coming to Skilak Lake.  From the outlet of Skilak Lake to the Upper Skilak Lake Boat Launch is just over 8 miles.  Trout and Salmon fishing can be great in this section of river.  From the outlet of Skilak Lake to the Upper Skilak Lake Boat Launch is just over 8 miles.  We might meat here if you have a canyon trip booked with us.  There is no concrete launch here and the loose gravel can be tricky docking your drift boat but it is very doable.  The wade fisherman can walk down river just a little ways and at different times of the year catch Sockeye salmon, Rainbow trout, dolly varden and silver salmon.  There is plenty of parking but during the peak season if you can’t find a place to park on the other side of the sterling highway there is another parking lot.  It is a short hike back to the boat launch.  Give us a call if you would like more information about wade fishing from Jims landing or if you are interested in a guided trip in this area.     Guided River Trip Rate $250 per person *LARGE GROUPS WELCOME *LODGING PACKAGES AVAILABLE *EXCLUSIVE BOAT PACKAGES -2 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $750.00 A DAY -3 PERSON EXCLUSIVE STARTING AT $950.00 A DAY contact details, business phone: 907-382-6808 or send an inquiry here!
