Guided Kenai river trout fishing

Taking a guided kenai river trout fishing trip will improve your odds of landing that fish of a lifetime.  We spend a lot of days chasing rainbow trout here in Alaska ever year and the Kenai river offers some of the best road accessible trout fishing in the world.  You can go on a do it yourself fishing trip on this system and have a great time but to have someone that fish’s it every day and also has the means of transportation is worth it’s weight in gold.  We can fish the Upper, Middle and lower kenai river with our boats.  Depending on the time of year will determine where we fish.  If you have a section of river already on your mind give us a call so we can schedule your trip in the most productive times of year.

I had the pleasure of fishing with my family on the last day of King salmon season and this 53″ Buck took an orange spin and gloe with some cured salmon eggs.  We ended up landing this fish more than a mile from where it was hooked!! This is a very large King salmon caught on the Kasilof river and everyone is very proud of it.  Our boat has been fishing good and this is a great way to end the King salmon season here in Alaska.   Though king fishing season is over look for more pictures and info about king fishing with us in the future from us.   The  season is really not that far away so if you are interested in a prime date be sure to book early. The last three weeks in July on the Kenai Peninsula seem to book faster and faster each year. Guided kasilof or Kenai river King salmon fishing can be a great experience like my family had when you are with a guide that takes pride in his job Tight lines, Scott

Kenai River King Salmon Fishing Trip

kasilof-king-salmon-029 After a long week of fishing some friends and I got a chance to break in a buddies new Willie classic power boat on Sunday. I don’t usually get a chance to catch a King Salmon on the kenai river myself but this day I did. Sometimes it takes sitting in the front seats to know how nice a guided fishing trip can be!  I ended up boating this nice king salmon on the first pass of the morning.  kenai river king salmon fishing can take some patients but today I was rewarded quickly.  It can take a week, a day, or the very first pass to catch a fish like this and that is why they call it fishing. We were fishing a 28 inch leader with a orange Cheater. Hope fishing is going well for everyone and look sharing more King Salmon information in the upcoming week! contact us out a here if you are interested in a guided kenai river king salmon fishing trip. We offer many other fishing trips in Alaska and on the Kenai river if you would like more information we are willing to help you out all we can. tight lines scott sager

KASILOF RIVER KING SALMON FISHING

Hope everyone had a great and safe 4th of July holiday! We were out on the river enjoying the sun and some kasilof river king salmon fishing. kasilof river Fishing was good with some bigger fish showing up. The fish of the day was a big Kasilof river king salmon. kasilof-king-salmon-ketterman-010 Often in July we see fish in the 50 pound range caught on the kasilof river.  We pride ourselves on staying up to date with what’s going on and the tactics that are producing fish on the Kasilof and kenai rivers.  You can count on our guide service to put for the best effort to make your fishing experience in Alaska a good one.  Today Plugs seem to still be working best in the tidal water. Bristol Bay float trip

The fishing on the Bristol Bay float trip for 6 days was great!  Everyone returned to Anchorage with a few sore.   Dry flies, Mouse patterns, and streamers all produced Arctic Grayling, arctic char and  Rainbow trout. Here is a picture of one of the guys with a trophy sized Grayling taken on day 2 of the float. fishing bristol bay Look for many more photos of this trip to come in the future.  I love to put together special trips like this one for groups that are willing to take on the adventure.  Remote Bristol bay float trips take some planning so if this sounds like something that interests you make sure that we start planning it early in the year.  We have great rafts and top of the line gear that is provided for the adventure.  All you need is a fishing license,  personal items and a sense of adventure.  We will take care of the rest for you. Alaska Fly Out rainbow Trout Fishing

Alaska fly out rainbow trout fishing trips are really something to look forward to.  I leave tomorrow on a 7 day adventure in Bristol Bay for trophy rainbow trout and king salmon fishing.  This is a personally designed trip for the HARD CORE, adventurous fisherman that wants to get the most out of there experience.  We will be in state of the art tents, comfortable 18 ft. rafts and eating like kings.  On this adventure we will be floating 72 miles of river, starting in the high country and ending up in dense, forested country near where the Nushagak River starts.  From the wildlife to the fish that haven’t seen a fly in a year or more, we expect to do very well on this trip.  Grayling, rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, chum salmon, king salmon,  and northern pike are all expected to be seen on this trip.  There is lots of planning involved in a trip like this so if you are interested in putting a back country trip of a lifetime together in the bush of Alaska make your plans with our guide service early.  We will only fish up to 6 people on two rafts on our back country trips to ensure a personal trip that you are never going to forget. I will not be able to get back to emails or phone calls until the 25th of June starting tomorrow.  Don’t hesitate to leave a voice mail or send an email if you are inquiring about a trip and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! mouse-pattern-001 Big Bristol Bay rainbow trout often take mouse patterns viciously in the spring before the salmon show up.  We plan to do very well on patterns such as this one! If your interested in booking a like this or a guide trip on the kenai river give us a call and we’ll work closely with you to make it happen! Guided Kasilof River King Salmon fishing

Guided Kasilof river King Salmon fishing has been very good this week.  Though we are having to work hard for the fish that we do catch. kasilof-king-salmon-fishing-006 kasilof-king-salmon-fishing-008 kasilof-king-salmon-fishing-009 These chrome Kasilof river king salmon where caught on the incoming time on both plugs and spin and glows with cured salmon roe.  Tides heavily influence our start times in the morning.  When you are booking a guided kasilof river king salmon fishing trip we will discuss our start times then or we will wait until the time of the trip gets closer to determine the timing of the start. Pay attention to what the tide is doing and you’ll be sure to find fish moving around.  I’ve found that the incoming tide has produced the best fishing this week. Homer Alaska Halibut Fishing

A day in Homer Alaska halibut fishing when you are visiting the Kenai Peninsula can be very rewarding and add some weight to the fish box. My saltwater captians and I have been working together for a few years now and he has never shown a client a bad trip. Yesterday I had a chance to take my uncle Fred Sager out and even in inclement weather he still worked to get us into nice halibut. halibut-fishing-alaska A few average fish and a couple of nicer fish made for a good box of fish for my Uncle to take home a share with the family. On a trip out on the boat make sure, even if the weather is nice that you take plenty of extra cloths. Saturday could have been miserable if we were not dressed properly! saltwater-king-salmon-fishing-alaska After getting your halibut in the box if time allows Tim will try to get you into some king salmon when they are available. Nothing like a Captain will to go the extra mile for you when your on a trip of a lifetime! Thanks Tim, If your interested in adding a day on the saltwater on your next trip to kenai peninsula, Alaska. Let us know and we will be happy to line you up with one of the most experienced captains.  Also if you are interested in a Kenai or Kasilof river guide trip we will gladly hook you up there too. Kenai peninsula fly fishing trip

anchor river, alaska When on a Kenai peninsula fly fishing trip on small rivers for King Salmon  make sure that you try to spend most of your time in a run that will concentrate fish.  These fish are moving upstream with the tide so moving around the stream can just waste time.  Getting out there ahead of high tide and hang out until the outgoing, this can be the most productive time. Good runs are popular during the peak of the season so staking out your sweet spot in advance is very important. fly fishing the anchor river, alaska The Anchor river can be a very productive fishery but for those early season king salmon you may have to put your time in.  Be patient and maybe you’ll pick up a mid May fish on the Kenai Peninsula! I have seen days where we get a good push of fish that each angler hooks multiple fish.  Once you have decided to harvest a fish you must quit fishing.  If you choose to practice catch and release you can fish as long as you would like.   For more information on a guided king salmon trip on the kenai river or surrounding water contact us here anytime. Shenandoah Valley fly fishing

I had a chance to get home and fly fish in the Shenandoah national park and Shenandoah valley  for a couple of days.  Shenandoah valley fly fishing involves a lot of hiking, wade fishing and or drift boat fishing.  The weather was OK and the fishing was great.  I only had a couple of opportunities to get out with the boys from www.murraysflyshop.com but when I did it was on. va-2009-009There is nothing big about the trout in Shenandoah nation park but native fish that are thousands of years old and readily taking dry flies makes this fishing as fun as any I have ever done.  The beautiful mountain streams can put the most seasoned fishers into a trance. We fished the Rapidan river in Madison county VA on this trip but there are over 50 fish able streams in the park! va-2009-017 Guide John Colman with a nice small mouth on the North Fork of the Shenandoah river.  Though the water temperature was colder than we would have liked the fish still cooperated.  We caught Small mouth bass, Large mouth bass, sunfish and fall fish. If you are interested in taking a fun, fish filled trip in the Shenandoah valley I highly recommend that you check out www.murraysflyshop.com. We are back in AK and start our season here may 16th!  King Salmon fishing should be good and if you are looking for an Alaska vacation for 2009 make sure you check us out at www.driftingonthefly.com Tight lines, Scott sager
