Kenai River Guide Trip

KENAI RIVER SOCKEYE SALMON

A popular Kenai river guide trip is for Sockeye Salmon, We offer many fishing opportunities in July and August for sockeye salmon.  Some of the best gravel bars are accessible on the middle kenai river.  We fish here almost exclusively during the peak of the sockeye salmon runs. We look for the Sockeye salmon fishing to pick up in the next few days also. Usually by July 14th the fishing is very good.  Limits are 3 per person a day until the escapement is reached and then it is usually bumped up to 6 per person!

Second run king salmon are here.  Fish have been showing up in good numbers now and you should be able to snatch on to a king if you put the time in.  Both the Kenai and Kasilof have fished well for me the last couple of days.  Quick fish worked best on the Kenai river and Spin and glows with a glob of eggs have been best on the Kasilof river for us.

Guided Kasilof King Salmon Fishing

Guided Kasilof King Salmon Fishing trips are offered in May, June, and July.  Today We set out again today to try to match wits with another King salmon on the kasilof river. We had a slow start with a few Dolly Varden caught and a few missed opportunities with some king Salmon. Ahead of the tide we stuck this fish! After what seemed to be a 30 minute struggle Terry brought this beautiful King Salmon to the net. I was a great day to see a lady from the east coast that has not fished much be so proud of her catch and she should be.  Big King Salmon can put a real stain on you and the equipment.  Sometimes it take a few drift to hook up but when you do it is very exciting to battle a King Salmon.

Nice job Terry and we’ll try again tomorrow.

Guided fishing trips are 275.00 per person and exclusive boat packages are available upon request.  Exclusive boats are a great way to keep the trip personal for the days fishing.  Check out more on our website at www.driftingonthefly.com and just maybe you could be next to hook up on a Kasilof river guide trip!

KASILOF RIVER KING SALMON FISHING

Kasilof river King Salmon fishing is getting good now.  On a guide trip  last Tues. and took a beautiful fresh 20lbs. King salmon.  We had a few other hits and caught a few Dolly Varden, Steel head, and flounder in the tidal water.  Things are looking up and the fishing should only get better on the kenai peninsula. Homer King Salmon Derby

copy-of-hunting-069.jpgcopy-of-hunting-068.jpg copy-of-hunting-064.jpg Due to bad weather the winter Homer king salmon derby was delayed until this past sunday.  There were 792 fishermen in the derby and 92 fish caught.  The odds don’t sound very good but there were 20 more fish caught this year than last year.  Boats are lined up along the bluff trolling for the Homer king salmon derby winning fish.  The fishing isn’t fast and furious but what a great place to spend the day on the water.   I fished with some good friends from around the Kenai Peninsula.  We had a great day but ended up with no king salmon on the boat.  It was a great way to get out and spend the day on the water and I highly recommend it to anyone that would like to experience Alaskas fishing.  There is not a lot of fishing going on the Kenai peninsula this early in the spring and it gives us a chance to get out and get a line wet.  If you would like to participate in the Homer king salmon derby contact me at www.driftingonthefly.com and I will get you lined up. KENAI RIVER KING SALMON FISHING

copy-of-picture-054.jpg

Kenai river king salmon fishing is  worth the wait! Kenai river King Salmon can be tough to catch and harder to land but with time put in and a little luck it can come together too.  This past year I had the opportunity to have my father in the boat in the first of June.  It is early season and on the first pass we netted this big 51 inch king salmon out of a drift boat with no motor.  Sometimes you can catch a fish right off the bat and other times it can take a day or two.  That’s what keeps us fishing but by Keeping your gear in good shape and always remember to gear up with fresh line.  You never know what will be tugging at the other end. If a Kenai river King salmon fishing guide trip is on your must have list, feel free to contact me and we’ll get you lined up. kenai River King salmon trips are 275.00 per person and we have both drift boat and power boat options for your days fishing. KENAI RIVER RAINBOW TROUT FISHING

Rainbow Trout on the Kenai River, Alaska with guide Scott Sager   The Kenai river rainbow trout fishing has shown great improvements on the egg bite in the last two weeks. The fish below Skilak on the middle kenai river seem to be keying in on the egg spawn from the king salmon. I’m finding that size 10 mil. egg pattern is working best for me. A dead drift is very important, the kenai river rainbow  trout see many anglers these days and get wise to a drift with the least bit of drag in it. keep your casts short and your rod high.  The less line on the water is the best to prevent any drag at all.  Also, do not count out the Sockeye Salmon, they have been stacking up and are ready to drop any minute in this area. Guided kenai river rainbow trout fishing is available now.  We take booking for drift boat trips, power boat trips, wade fishing trips, and fly out fishing trips.  We will work close with you to design a personal and unforgettable fishing trip in Alaska Thanks for checking us out and I’ll try to post again as soon as the fish key in on another bite. KENAI RIVER RAINBOW TROUT FISHING

Kenai river rainbow trout fishing trips make for an exciting fishing vacation.  We will custom design your trip for multiple days of fishing from the upper Kenai river to the lower parts of the system.  We have wade fishing opportunities, drift boat, power boat and fly out trips available. alaska rainbow trout fishing The Kenai river King Season has ended and I have to say it ended up being a good year.  Now it is time to chase big rainbows trout, steel head and silver salmon.  The rainbow trout fishing has been good this week and is steadily improving each day. We have had several nice rainbows pushing 30 inches since my last post here. These fish are keying in on the King Salmon Spawn now.  Where ever you find a pair of Kings you can bet that there are many rainbows and dolly varden laying behind them waiting for them to drop eggs.  This is the main source of food for the trout at this time of year. Give me a call if you are interested in a trip you will never forget.   I still have a few openings for fishing trips in August and September. Tight Lines, Scott Drifting On The Fly, LLC

King Salmon

Book your King Salmon fishing trip with us today.  Booking King salmon trips on the Kenai river and Kasilof river.  We have Drift boat, power boat and wade fishing trips available!  The cost of a guided fishing trip for king salmon is 275.00 per person for full day fishing trips and 200.00$ per person for half day fishing trips. RICH KETTERMAN KING SALMON The King salmon bite has been slower over the past couple of days though we are catching a few, a couple of them have been very nice fish over 40 pounds.  We are focusing on the Kasilof river now since the Kenai River is getting so much preasure.  From reports that I have gotten the Kasilof river is fishing better right now anyways.  To give anglers the best opportunity we have been spending most of our time in the tidal water looking for fresh fish that are pushing in.  I look for the King Salmon to push in the river in good numbers any tide now.  The Kenai river Rainbow trout fishing has been good and keeps on improving the closer we get to the King salmon spawn.  By the middle of August the bite should be off the hook.   We are taking bookings for the rainbow trout and silver salmon fishing this fall.
