Kenai peninsula steelhead fishing trips are offered for both the fly angler and the light spin tackle angler. Drift boat trips and walk and wade trips are our preferred ways to pursue these hard fighting fish. Warm clothing, hand warmers and perseverance have paid off recently on the Kenai Peninsula Steelhead fishing streams. Beads or leeches fished dead drift or down and across streamer style with a Teeny 200 if the streams are too high. In other words – typical finicky Steelhead fishing but the catching has been good. The steelhead run seems to be steady and the only thing that gets in the way is ice in our guides though the last few days haven’t been that cold though.
The middle river section of the Kenai continues to be great for nice, fat rainbows trout. The
dolly Varden are mostly gone now, off to do the spawning thing up the tributaries. So it is just you, the silver salmon, and the
rainbows trout as far as
fishing on the kenai river in concerned.

A few eagles feeding along the Kenai river, we also saw a brown bear fishing along the river as well. I was able to maneuver the boat close enough for my guest to get some great photos. Wildlife along the Kenai river is abundant and you never know what you might see on a day trip with us.
This young Alaska brown bear was really trying hard to catch a fish and finally did. I think he will winter just fine.
Kenai river Rainbow trout fishing was good today again and I hope it continues through the whole fall. Our fish have enough of a food source to hold them over for a long time this year with the pink salmon in the river. Pink salmon show up on the kenai river on even numbered years.
The guys caught lots of fish today and managed to hang a very large fish but didn’t land it. The opportunity to catch a world class rainbow trout is very high on the kenai river with fish caught daily 24-28 inches and an occasional 30 inch plus fish.

The option to fish for rainbow trout, silver salmon, or sockeye salmon on the middle river in a power boat is now available. I have owned and run power boats for years and it is nice to finally add one to our guided fishing operation.
