This week we will kick off steelhead fishing camp!
We will be camped out on the Anchor river the first weekend in Oct. If you are interested in camping off the end of the fishing season sharing camp with some hard core steelhead fishermen and we’d love to have you join us. We plan to have a wonderful camp fire Friday and sat. night with good food and laughs, along with some epic steelhead fishing. There is plenty of camp sites in the area along with the Anchor river Inn for those that would like a warm room and shower at a reasonable price. If this weekend works for you feel free to contact me here for more info on the weekend! Join us in steelhead camp and the memories will make themselves. This is going to be a good weekend to meet new people that share the same passions as you and have a great time by a much needed campfire.

Taking a guided kenai river trout fishing trip will improve your odds of landing that fish of a lifetime. We spend a lot of days chasing rainbow trout here in Alaska ever year and the Kenai river offers some of the best road accessible trout fishing in the world. You can go on a do it yourself fishing trip on this system and have a great time but to have someone that fish’s it every day and also has the means of transportation is worth it’s weight in gold. We can fish the Upper, Middle and lower kenai river with our boats. Depending on the time of year will determine where we fish. If you have a section of river already on your mind give us a call so we can schedule your trip in the most productive times of year.
Drifting On The Fly, LLCRainbow trout and dolly varden fishing on the kenai river continues to get better ever day. It is easy to book a guided kenai river trout fishing trip, just give us a call and we will hook you up. We work hard to keep our anglers on fish and will coach you into the right presentation that will keep them on the line for you. Not every fish is landed but if that were the case there would be no since in going. Come see if you are one of the lucky ones to land a 30 inch rainbow trout on a guided kenai river fishing trip!
This is one of the better photos of today’s guided trip.

Guided Kasilof river King salmon fishing is officially over on the Kenai peninsula now. The end of July marks the end of King salmon fishing on the Kenai peninsula. Though it was a great season we are now geared up and focused on Silver Salmon, Sockeye salmon and rainbow trout fishing now.

I had the pleasure of fishing with my family on the last day of King salmon season and this 53″ Buck took an orange spin and gloe with some cured salmon eggs. We ended up landing this fish more than a mile from where it was hooked!! This is a very large King salmon caught on the Kasilof river and everyone is very proud of it. Our boat has been fishing good and this is a great way to end the King salmon season here in Alaska.
Though king fishing season is over look for more pictures and info about king fishing with us in the future from us. The season is really not that far away so if you are interested in a prime date be sure to book early. The last three weeks in July on the Kenai Peninsula seem to book faster and faster each year. Guided kasilof or Kenai river King salmon fishing can be a great experience like my family had when you are with a guide that takes pride in his job

Kasilof River king salmon fishing has been great! Good fishing and less crowds has made for a great season on the Kasilof river. It is however getting more popular every year, it is the sister river to the Kenai river and big fish are caught often. These fish are here and every year someone gets schooled on a fish that might very well be the next world record. If you are interested in the challenge of fishing for King Salmon from a drift boat give us a call to book your guide kasilof river king salmon fishing trip today.

This is one of the 3 fish these two guys caught this day! On the Kasilof river you do not have to quit fishing if you have harvested a fish. Though we try not to take bites away from other fisherman you will have a line in the water if everyone hasn’t limited out for the day! Odds are better drift boat fishing the Kasilof river.
We have stepped it up to a 30″ leader with a large egg orange cheater behind a # 40 diver. This set up is sure to produce a fish if presented right and time out is spent.

Kenai river sockeye salmon fishing can be fast and furious! The 2nd run Kenai river Sockeye salmon are starting to show up in good numbers. Today we saw lots of fish moving through and look to see even more in the next couple of days.
This is one of the Sockeye salmon we caught today fishing Kenai River. A long leader with just enough weight to bounce along the bottom will get you hooked up on one of these hard fighting fish.
While out on the river don’t forget to take a minute to see what is passing you by. This common merganser was out teaching her little ones how to fish. The scenery is hard to beet while on the Kenai river sockeye salmon fishing as well.
Guided sockeye salmon fishing will continue through the middle of August so it is not to late to get your seat on the boat to chase these great fighting fish.

There are many ways of cleaning kenai river king salmon and this is just one of them. A great way to remove scales from a big king salmon is to use a power washer. Some good friends of mine showed me this a few years ago and it will work on any fish that you wish to remove scales before filleting. This will cut down on weight for shipping and keep your fillets “fishy” smell to a minimum.
Use the power wash before you gut or do any cutting to the fish for the best results.
Try it on your next salmon and see if it work for you too. It is the sportsman’s responsibility to take care of anything that you harvest and I seem to learn more about different ways to take care of my harvest every year. For filleting king salmon I prefer a stiffer blade for cutting down along the backbone but then I switch back to a more flimsy blade when it is time to remove the ribs from the fillet.
We hope this help and if you have any questions or would like to book your next Kenai River King Salmon fishing trip give us a call.

What age is to young to come out on a King Salmon guide trip? Fishing for Kings can be a lot of work so it depends on the person. We like to see family’s out on the water spending time together so all ages are welcome. Don’t hesitate to get a young person into fishing as early as possible.
The outdoors is a great place to spend quality time with your family.
This young man at the age of 11 caught two beautiful king salmon on the Kasilof river a few days ago. The only help he had was getting the rod out of the rod holder and the rest was his.
A few other fish were hit and caught this day but I’ll remember the smile on his face more than I will the fish! That’s what it is all about, making memories with friends and family in the outdoors.
If a day on the water with your family is in need feel free to book your next kenai peninsula guide trip with us. we can acomodate groups as small as 2 and as large as 20. Give us a call today to line up your next king salmon guide trip in Alaska.

The fishing on the Bristol Bay float trip for 6 days was great! Everyone returned to Anchorage with a few sore. Dry flies, Mouse patterns, and streamers all produced Arctic Grayling, arctic char and Rainbow trout.
Here is a picture of one of the guys with a trophy sized Grayling taken on day 2 of the float.
Look for many more photos of this trip to come in the future. I love to put together special trips like this one for groups that are willing to take on the adventure. Remote Bristol bay float trips take some planning so if this sounds like something that interests you make sure that we start planning it early in the year. We have great rafts and top of the line gear that is provided for the adventure. All you need is a fishing license, personal items and a sense of adventure. We will take care of the rest for you.
Don’t forget that the season is in full swing and if you would like your spot on the boat for a guided kenai river fishing trip give us a call or email us!

Alaska fly out rainbow trout fishing trips are really something to look forward to. I leave tomorrow on a 7 day adventure in Bristol Bay for trophy rainbow trout and king salmon fishing. This is a personally designed trip for the HARD CORE, adventurous fisherman that wants to get the most out of there experience. We will be in state of the art tents, comfortable 18 ft. rafts and eating like kings. On this adventure we will be floating 72 miles of river, starting in the high country and ending up in dense, forested country near where the Nushagak River starts. From the wildlife to the fish that haven’t seen a fly in a year or more, we expect to do very well on this trip. Grayling, rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, chum salmon, king salmon, and northern pike are all expected to be seen on this trip. There is lots of planning involved in a trip like this so if you are interested in putting a back country trip of a lifetime together in the bush of Alaska make your plans with our guide service early. We will only fish up to 6 people on two rafts on our back country trips to ensure a personal trip that you are never going to forget.
I will not be able to get back to emails or phone calls until the 25th of June starting tomorrow. Don’t hesitate to leave a voice mail or send an email if you are inquiring about a trip and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!
Big Bristol Bay rainbow trout often take mouse patterns viciously in the spring before the salmon show up. We plan to do very well on patterns such as this one!
If your interested in booking a like this or a guide trip on the kenai river give us a call and we’ll work closely with you to make it happen!
