KASILOF RIVER KING SALMON FISHING

Kasilof River king salmon fishing has been great! Good fishing and less crowds has made for a great season on the Kasilof river.  It is however getting more popular every year, it is the sister river to the Kenai river and big fish are caught often.  These fish are here and every year someone gets schooled on a fish that might very well be the next world record.   If you are interested in the challenge of fishing for King Salmon from a drift boat give us a call  to book your guide kasilof river king salmon fishing trip today.

This is one of the 3 fish these two guys caught this day!  On the Kasilof river you do not have to quit fishing if you have harvested a fish.  Though we try not to take bites away from other fisherman you will have a line in the water if everyone hasn’t limited out for the day!  Odds are better drift boat fishing the Kasilof river. We have stepped it up to a 30″ leader with a large egg orange cheater behind a # 40 diver.  This set up is sure to produce a fish if presented right and time out is spent. tight lines, Scott www.driftingonthefly.com

Kenai River King Salmon Fishing Trip

kasilof-king-salmon-029 After a long week of fishing some friends and I got a chance to break in a buddies new Willie classic power boat on Sunday. I don’t usually get a chance to catch a King Salmon on the kenai river myself but this day I did. Sometimes it takes sitting in the front seats to know how nice a guided fishing trip can be!  I ended up boating this nice king salmon on the first pass of the morning.  kenai river king salmon fishing can take some patients but today I was rewarded quickly.  It can take a week, a day, or the very first pass to catch a fish like this and that is why they call it fishing. We were fishing a 28 inch leader with a orange Cheater. Hope fishing is going well for everyone and look sharing more King Salmon information in the upcoming week! contact us out a here if you are interested in a guided kenai river king salmon fishing trip. We offer many other fishing trips in Alaska and on the Kenai river if you would like more information we are willing to help you out all we can. tight lines scott sager

Bristol Bay float trip

The fishing on the Bristol Bay float trip for 6 days was great!  Everyone returned to Anchorage with a few sore.   Dry flies, Mouse patterns, and streamers all produced Arctic Grayling, arctic char and  Rainbow trout. Here is a picture of one of the guys with a trophy sized Grayling taken on day 2 of the float. fishing bristol bay Look for many more photos of this trip to come in the future.  I love to put together special trips like this one for groups that are willing to take on the adventure.  Remote Bristol bay float trips take some planning so if this sounds like something that interests you make sure that we start planning it early in the year.  We have great rafts and top of the line gear that is provided for the adventure.  All you need is a fishing license,  personal items and a sense of adventure.  We will take care of the rest for you. Guided Kasilof River King Salmon Fishing

Guided Kasilof river King Salmon fishing has been good.  Lots of take downs,  a few fish coming unbuttoned and plenty of fish landed.  Water levels are in very good shape and it’s looking to be a great year for King Salmon fishing on the Kasilof River.  King salmon fishing is also picking up on the Kenai river too.  I have mostly fished the Kasilof river this week but have a few trips are booked for on the Kenai river coming up soon. kasilof-kings-001 kasilof-kings-002 Here is one of the fish we boated on yesterdays adventure with our guide service.  These bright King Salmon are hard hitting and make screaming runs. Remember King Salmon season ends at the end of July so it is not to late to get your spot on our boat. You can contact us at www.driftingonthefly.com to book your next guided fishing trip on the Kasilof or Kenai river! Kasilof River Salmon Fishing Guide

Today’s report from your Kasilof river salmon fishing guide. Every day has shown improvement and more and more fish are hitting the river.  I believe that this coming week will be the best of the first run of King Salmon.  We’ll just have to be out there and see what happens.  Bait is still producing more fish that plugs for my boat.  With the water level coming up more and more everyday I’ve switched to a larger set of hooks and am now running a longer leader for my eggs and spin and glows.  Larger fish are starting to come into the river, we had one get off the hook today that may have reached 40-45 pounds? kasilof-king-salmon-fishing-013 kasilof-king-salmon-fishing-012 The weather has been awesome, 65-80 degrees on the river this week thus far and not a cloud in the sky!  We hope it continues? Homer Alaska Halibut Fishing

A day in Homer Alaska halibut fishing when you are visiting the Kenai Peninsula can be very rewarding and add some weight to the fish box. My saltwater captians and I have been working together for a few years now and he has never shown a client a bad trip. Yesterday I had a chance to take my uncle Fred Sager out and even in inclement weather he still worked to get us into nice halibut. halibut-fishing-alaska A few average fish and a couple of nicer fish made for a good box of fish for my Uncle to take home a share with the family. On a trip out on the boat make sure, even if the weather is nice that you take plenty of extra cloths. Saturday could have been miserable if we were not dressed properly! saltwater-king-salmon-fishing-alaska After getting your halibut in the box if time allows Tim will try to get you into some king salmon when they are available. Nothing like a Captain will to go the extra mile for you when your on a trip of a lifetime!
