KENAI PENINSULA GUIDED FISHING

Fly fishing for king salmon on the Kenai Peninsula! How about a few busted knuckles? I narrowly escaped with mine intact yesterday while . We were fishing about 100 yards from the saltwater and when I hooked him, he decided he didn’t like the fresh water anymore. I have to say that I have never had any fish, run that hard in the fresh water! This king salmon took an olive articulated egg sucking leach at the end of the swing.
The fishing has been great this time of the year. The King Salmon are starting to increase in numbers though it has taken a little while for them to get going. It has been a cool Spring in South central Alaska and this affects everything, even the salmon run. This has however been my most productive Spring season with a fly rod for King Salmon though and I can only hope it keeps going that way.
Are you interested in learning how to fly fish for a few tackle busting King Salmon? Give me a call 907-382-6808 and we can arrange for that to happen in short order on your next kenai peninsula guide trip with Drifting on the Fly!

Drifting On The Fly, LLC Kenai river King Salmon are coming in better numbers every day. The rivers both kenai and kasilof are fishing well right now. Drift fishing has still been hit or miss depending on the day. A few Sockeye Salmon are showing up in the Kenai River this week. Be sure to familiarize yourself if you plan to fish the Kenai river since a lot of regulation changes are now in effect for the 2008 season. Pay special attention to the 2-Stroke Motor restrictions. June 11 will open the Kenai River Rainbow Trout Season, until then this season is closed river wide. Check out this link for details on the regulation changes. Give me a call 907-382-6808 if you want to fish the Kenai or Kasilof, I still have a few days open in June as of tonight if you are interested in using our kenai peninsula guide service.

Alaska king salmon fishing overnight trips are a blast! This week on our back country fishing trip We will be fishing for King Salmon primarily but will have opportunity at some rainbow trout as well. We will leave Anchorage June 16, 2007 and float/ camp/ fish for 5 days, 4 nights returning to Anchorage.. Back country fishing trips can be a lot of fun. Remember though when you are floating in the wilds of Alaska being prepared is key but keeping gear to a minimum is also very important. The fine line of having enough and not is always in the back of my mind. Customer safety is very important to us. The cost of this all inclusive trip is $1400.00 per person for the 2007 season. This price Includes: transportation to stream and back to Anchorage, gear, tackle, food, beverages, tents and sleeping bags. Bring yourself, your fishing license, your camera and some clothes. We will provide everything else on your Alaska king salmon adventure. Click here for more details on our offered back country trips.
If there is a river you have in mind or an experience that you would like give us a call we will be happy to design the trip and make it happen for you.

Kenai River silver salmon and Rainbow trout fishing has been excellent! Guided fishing trips are available and with your help we will design a trip that best suites your vacation. Available trips are drift boat, power boat, walk and wade and fly out fishing trips with spin or fly tackle.
Rainbow trout Fishing on the Kenai river has been excellent and this will remain through the freeze up . Fly Out Silver Salmon fishing has been very good as well. The trips that we have taken this year have all ended up in good weather and good fishing. The chance in Alaska for bad weather to set in is always in the back of my mind but luck has been on our side this year. The Kenai and Kasilof are both only fishing fair for Silver salmon this week. However, this should pick up in the near future. Give me a call if you want to catch a few large Rainbows or Silver salmon. I still have a few days available in late August and September.

The King salmon bite has been slower over the past couple of days though we are catching a few, a couple of them have been very nice fish over 40 pounds. We are focusing on the Kasilof river now since the Kenai River is getting so much preasure. From reports that I have gotten the Kasilof river is fishing better right now anyways. To give anglers the best opportunity we have been spending most of our time in the tidal water looking for fresh fish that are pushing in. I look for the King Salmon to push in the river in good numbers any tide now. The Kenai river Rainbow trout fishing has been good and keeps on improving the closer we get to the King salmon spawn. By the middle of August the bite should be off the hook.
We are taking bookings for the rainbow trout and silver salmon fishing this fall.
