Kasilof river silvers and kenai river trout fishing

20120823-133723.jpg   Kasilof river silvers and kenai river trout fishing combo Got a quick limit of silver salmon yesterday morning on the kasilof river bouncing eggs in the tidal water. The group was interested in some fly fishing so we put the drift boat up and took the power boat out on the Kenai river rainbow trout fishing. The little extra effort really paid off with some big fish!!  This isn’t something we do every day but if there is time we are happy to go the extra mile for you. 20120823-134336.jpg Bright sunny days often put the rainbow’s off the bite.  Today was an exception to that!  When salmon start dropping eggs into the system all bets are off and it should be fish On.   20120823-134406.jpg Trout salmon combo days can be a lot of fun and a lot of work as well.  If we change up gears and switch systems extra half day rates will apply for the afternoon trip. If you would like to get in on a day like this give us a call at 907-382-6808. Tight lines, Scott Sager Drifting On The Fly

Kasilof silver salmon fishing

20120821-110650.jpg We were on the kasilof river silver salmon fishing this morning. Back trolling plugs and cured eggs trying to get in front a good push of fish.   A change in the weather from yesterday for sure. Bright sunny skies have us wearing sun scream in layers instead of rain jackets!! It’s a ladies trip today and they are a riot! We’ve caught a few silver salmon and a lot of pink salmon. A few more hours are left in the day to bring in a limit for the girls. I hope it happens for them.   20120821-111809.jpg This chrome bright silver salmon put on a real show for us.  It cart wheeled 4 times before coming into the net.  Silver salmon are the number one choice for many anglers.  The ladies have been coming to alaska for many years and prefer the fishing for the silver over any other species of salmon that they have fished for.  I have to say whatever I am fishing for at the moment tends to be my favorite fish to pursue?  I enjoy meeting new people and fishing, it’s the perfect job. If you would like to give the Kasilof river a shot for silver salmon give us a call or contact us through the site and we will hook you up!

Kasilof river silver salmon fishing

20120815-202906.jpg Kasilof river silver salmon fishing can be very relaxing, here we are in the run we call desperation waiting for another bite.  A day on the river back trolling is a great way to fish.  Back bouncing or back trolling are the two most productive ways to pursue kasilof river silver salmon. 20120815-202917.jpg We were out Drift boating Kasilof river silver salmon fishing today. We have caught lots of pink salmon and a few silver salmon  Early morning is the most productive time right now, by mid afternoon the bite is very sporadic. The guys had a lot of fun and were a great group. I always enjoy a group that is here to catch fish and not a good time pass them by. 20120815-203459.jpg This picture is taken at edds Kasilof seafood.  The tide is high now and the day is done.   If you are interested in chasing silver salmon on the fly rod or conventional gear give us a call (907-382-6808)The Kenai and or the kasilof river could be a great start to pursuing silver salmon in Alaska! Kasilof river

The Kasilof river has many fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities!  Here is a picture of a bull moose grazing at the kasilof river boat launch this morning! 20120626-102438.jpg There is a lot of opportunity in Alaska to see wildlife.  If you are on the highway or on the river or at your place of lodging keep in mind that it is “wildlife” and give them some space.  To many time we see people running up to get a better picture or worse just stopping in the middle of the highway to get that snap shot.  Be sure to pull off the road in a safe place and give wildlife plenty of room. 20120626-104154.jpg Wildlife along the Kasilof river is abundant and the opportunity to see a moose crossing the river or standing beside the boat launch is very high.  Along with taking fishing trip for king salmon, silver salmon or steel head on the Kasilof river the  photography possibilities are there as too. If the Kasilof river sounds like a place you would like to fish give us a call at 907-382-6808 or contact us here on the site.

Kasilof river boat launch

The kasilof River boat launch is where we will meet for a day of King salmon, Silver salmon or steel head fishing on the Kasilof river.  Parking our drift boats at the kasilof river boat launch can be a tricky job during the busy season.  Drift boat fishing is a relaxing, quiet and productive Way to pursue king salmon. 20120618-083722.jpg When arriving at the Kasilof river boat launch make sure you make your way to the river and find you guide as soon as your ready.  I can get a little congested during the fishing season with limited room to park your boat.  I will give you my drift boat number which is 607, the boat number is a very easy way to find the guide your looking for.  Most guides at the Kasilof river boat launch are friendly and willing to help you find the boat that you are looking for.  Fortunately the amount of boats at the Kasilof river boat launch is no wheres near as many as launching out of the kenai river so the search will not take to long to get into the right boat. Rainbow Trout Season

Today is the Rainbow Trout season opener on the Kenai River, June 11th. Get out your smolt and flesh fly patterns and enjoy some potentially great rainbow trout fishing. This is a great time of year to pursue trout, they are hungry and willing to take traditional flies, which is always a lot of fun. The mouth of the Kenai River from Skilak lake five miles down stream is closed to all motorized vessels until June 15th! This is set into place because of the trumpeter swans that are nesting in the area. If you are interested in taking a guided fishing trip on the Kenai river, feel free to contact us anytime at www.driftingonthefly.com or at 907-382-6808.
