Guided Kenai River Rainbow Trout Fishing Trip,
Scott and Kim Sager
Scott and Kim Sager
Are you headed to the Kenai Peninsula and in search of a fishing trip this year?  An excellent guided trip that we offer is for Kenai River Rainbow Trout Fishing.  Choose between the use of Fly or spin in  a comfortable drift boat or power boat on the Upper Kenai River, Middle Kenai River, or Lower Kenai river.  Take a couple trips and see it all, if the timing is right the rainbow trout fishing can be good in all three sections of the river.

Kenai River Rainbow Trout Fishing

June 11th is the day that the entire Kenai River is open to rainbow trout fishing.  We will start our season off fishing the Middle Kenai river in a drift boat until the 15th of June.  This allows us to fish in a preferred section of the river that is closed to the use of power boats.  Once the river opens up to the use of motors in this section we will then offer guided trips with the power boat.  Drift boat trips will still be offered if this is your preferred boat to fish out of or if we are fishing in the Upper Kenai river.  Both Boats are effective ways to pursue Kenai river rainbow trout. kasilof river drift boat powerboat1           Kenai river Rainbow trout fishing will continue to be good through the end of June.  In July the rainbow trout fishing tends to tapper off a little but then picks back up again in early August.  In August September and October Kenai River rainbow trout fishing will continue to be good.  The Kenai river offers excellent opportunities for trophy fish on both fly and light tackle.  Our Guide service will supply all tackle, flies, waders (if needed), rain gear (if you do not have your own) and rods needed for your trip.  We also will have water, hot coffee, and snacks on board.  You will need: sunglasses, extra layers of clothing, a packed lunch, and a valid fishing license for the day. Along with guided Kenai river rainbow trout fishing trips, we also offer guided king salmon fishing, silver salmon fishing, sockeye salmon fishing, dolly varden fishing, arctic grayling fishing, and steelhead fishing depending on the time of the season.   All of these species of fish make for an exciting adventure in Alaska.  I fish most every day during the South Central Alaska fishing season and take great pride in showing a quality trip to our guests.  Give us a call or contact us here on the site and we will get you lined up on a great fishing trip on the Kenai Peninsula or surrounding areas here in Alaska. WILLIE PREDATOR POWER BOAT

Drifting on the Fly, LLC proudly added a Willie Predator power boat to the business. The boat is 20 feet long and is 72 inches wide and is powered by a 50 horse power Mercury motor and has a 9.9  horse power Mercury motor for secondary power. Though running a drift boat on the Kenai River for salmon, Dolly Varden and rainbow trout has its place, the power boat has its benefits as well.

The use of a powerboat for rainbow trout fishing on the middle Kenai River is a very effective way to have a chance at big Kenai River rainbow trout. This boat also allows us to easily fish the lower Kenai River for king salmon.  With a 50-horse power engine on the back of the boat running multiple drifts through a hole can be done in no time.

The option to fish for rainbow trout, silver salmon, or sockeye salmon on the middle river in a power boat is now available.  I have owned and run power boats for years and it is nice to finally add one to our guided fishing operation.

We are looking forward to another great fishing season. Booking a guide trip on the kenai river with Drifting on the Fly easy!

Kasilof River Guide

If you are looking for a good, dependable, and knowledgeable Kasilof river guide, look no further! I have spent many days through out the last 8 years studying and fishing the Kasilof river.  We will put you in the best runs that we can and give you the best opportunity to catch a fish of a lifetime.  King Salmon on the Kasilof river can be a challenge to catch but with some patients and good coaching I am confident that you will have a successful trip.

This week proved to be another good week for the Kasilof River for King Salmon fishing.  The Dewey family did some back trolling out of the drift boat on Monday with me and this fish flat out smoked us.  It hit a smaller pink cheater with a little glob of cured eggs.  The river has finally come up to normal level and we have had to start fishing with size 40 jet divers.  This kasilof river is mainly a terminal gear fishery but it is still a drift boat only river which makes for a relaxing day.

Congrats to Eric and Kelly we wish you two the best and good luck with the upcoming wedding.

thanks guys and see you next year
