I’m in Northern Alaska getting fuel for the treacherous drive south later. We came up to the end of the Dalton highway to explore some fall Arctic char fishing and ran into snow and frozen water. Just a little to late for the trip but it was my only shot at getting out for a few days this year. I’ve heard stories of the lake trout fishing in the far north right before freeze up an I really wanted to get my hands on one of those big fish. I wish that it could have been a little different but the drive is absolutely beautiful.
Here are a few pics from the north side of the brooks range.

Dall sheep are truly awesome! How they live in such a rough climate never seems to amaze me.
Here are some muskox grazing out on a flat just south of Dead Horse.
And of Course a northern Alaska pay at the pump machine!
Though I believe the Kenai peninsula has a little bit of everything seeing other parts of the state is very exciting to me as well.
