Happy Fourth of July!

Drifting on the FlyBlog

As the scent of barbecue fills the air and celebrations occur, for many, the Fourth of July on Kasilof River means one thing: sockeye salmon.

Right now, as we celebrate Independence Day, the Kasilof River is alive with action. The sockeye run is strong this year and we are limiting out!

From the celebrations in towns like Kenai and Homer to the exhilarating rush of pulling in a robust red sockeye from the Kasilof, this holiday truly embodies the spirit of freedom, abundance, and the wild heart of the Last Frontier. Happy 249th birthday America from the great 49th state, Alaska!
