KENAI RIVER OVERNIGHT TRIP

A Kenai river overnight trip can be a nice add on for your fishing vacation.

Friends of Drifting on the fly sometimes get a chance to send photos of their trip with us. When I am out on the river it is hard to take photos for myself a lot of the time and we appreciate getting photos like these in the mail or by email.

FISHING KODIAK ISLAND ALASKA

On our trip Fishing Kodiak Island Alaska Last week we had to travel by land, air, and sea. The experience to check out sights like this only happens through the window of a bush plane or getting out climbing the mountains. I enjoy both but the plane is a lot less work! We had a great time stomping around on Kodiak and made some great friends along the way. The fishing was awesome and I have never found better Silver Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Zachor bay and the Karluk river are truly awesome. LITTLE SUSITNA RIVER FLY FISHING

Little Susitna river fly fishing can be very productive. We have hooked many king salmon, silver salmon, and rainbow trout on the fly in this system. Here is a picture of a king salmon hooked up on the fly rod. This fish took a purple articulated leech on the swing. Thanks to John Colmen and Jeff Murray for making the 2008 little Susitna trip a success. John and Jeff moved the camp boat, set up camp and cooked every day. Enjoying a great trip and just having them in camp added that much more to a great experience. You can catch up with these guys deep in the Shenandoah national park fishing for spooky brook trout or on the Shenandoah rivers fly casting for small mouth bass. Little Susitna Trip

The little susitna trip was a success!! Everyone hooked into King Salmon on fly rods, the food was great and plenty of it, the weather brought clear (sunscreen was definitely needed) and hot (70’s) days and everyone learned how easy it is to fish yourself to sleep! Back country trips are always a lot of fun though none of them go exactly like it is planned out on paper. Then again that’s part of the fun as well! We are planning a trip for 2009 and if you would like information on when and where as soon as it is available, please email me so I can put you on the list. We will continue to limit these trips to four people for 3 nights and 4 days on the river. This is also an excellent trip for when the silver salmon are running as well, the logistics are the same and the price is as well. Carlos, Glenn and Larry – Thank you, it was great! And congratulations to larry for landing the biggest king salmon of the fishing trip. It was a great battle and we enjoyed putting that one in the net. Alaska King Salmon fishing

Alaska king salmon fishing overnight trips are a blast! This week on our back country fishing trip We will be fishing for King Salmon primarily but will have opportunity at some rainbow trout as well. We will leave Anchorage June 16, 2007 and float/ camp/ fish for 5 days, 4 nights returning to Anchorage.. Back country fishing trips can be a lot of fun. Remember though when you are floating in the wilds of Alaska being prepared is key but keeping gear to a minimum is also very important. The fine line of having enough and not is always in the back of my mind. Customer safety is very important to us. The cost of this all inclusive trip is $1400.00 per person for the 2007 season. This price Includes: transportation to stream and back to Anchorage, gear, tackle, food, beverages, tents and sleeping bags. Bring yourself, your fishing license, your camera and some clothes.
